Three exceptional equine veterinary students received $10,000 Anne and Richard Stirlen Scholarships at the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) 70th Annual Convention in Orlando, Florida, on December 8, 2024.  

The 2024 Anne and Richard Stirlen Scholarship recipients are:

The scholarships, presented by The Foundation for the Horse, are made possible by the generosity of Anne Stirlen in honor of her equine veterinarians and friends: Laura Javsicas, VMD, DACVIM, Gus Abuja, DVM, DACVS, and Bradley Amery, DVM. 

The Stirlens are horse owners and advocates from Connecticut who assist new and upcoming equine veterinarians manage their debts upon graduation. 

“Assisted by The Foundation for the Horse, I am delighted to present this chance to support aspiring equine veterinarians,” Mrs. Stirlen said. 

“We owe the Stirlens a tremendous amount of gratitude for this scholarship opportunity,” said Dr. Tracy Turner, DVM, DACVS, DACVSMR, The Foundation for the Horse president. “Having owners who exhibit a profound concern for the well-being of horses through sustained dedication is truly remarkable.
