Gerald G. Stanfield, DVM

Following his military service, Dr. Stanfield spent much of his career providing hands-on care to horses and livestock across Texas and California. From San Antonio and Georgetown to Corpus Christi, Weatherford, and Brownsville, he became known as a reliable and knowledgeable practitioner—meeting clients where they were and delivering care in both ambulatory and clinical settings. As a partner at Boca Chica Animal Hospital in Brownsville, Texas, he played a key role in providing consistent, quality veterinary services to the region.
Dr. Stanfield’s clinical work spanned a wide range of equine needs, including health management, reproduction, lameness evaluation, basic surgery, and emergency care. His practical, well-rounded approach allowed him to care for horses at every stage—from routine welfare to urgent situations, earning the trust of horse owners across diverse disciplines. In addition to his veterinary work, he owned and bred performance horses, including cutting horses and racehorses, giving him a firsthand understanding of the industry he served.
Known for his encouragement and willingness to share knowledge, Dr. Stanfield helped guide many young veterinarians as they entered the profession. Through formal and informal teaching, as well as continued engagement in professional development, he contributed to the growth and confidence of those who followed in his footsteps.
