Deborah Kemper, DVM, DACVIM

A graduate of the University of California, Davis, Dr. Kemper went on to complete a large animal internship and residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at Texas A&M University. In 2000, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, a distinction that reflects both her expertise and dedication to the field.
Dr. Kemper’s clinical focus spans a broad spectrum of complex medical conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders, respiratory disease, infectious disease, neurologic evaluations, and dermatologic and ophthalmic concerns. Known for her methodical and compassionate approach, she provides both routine and referral-level care—supporting performance, sport, and companion horses with the same level of attention and precision. Her role on the United States P.R.E. (Pure Spanish Horse) Association’s approved veterinarian roster further reflects her trusted reputation within the industry.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Kemper is deeply committed to mentorship and education. She actively supervises and trains veterinary students, interns, and technicians, helping to shape the next generation of equine practitioners. Through her leadership, she has contributed to the development of structured externship and internship programs at her hospital, creating meaningful opportunities for hands-on learning and professional growth.
Having grown up riding horses in Northern California, Dr. Kemper brings a lifelong connection to the animals she serves—grounding her work in both technical expertise and genuine understanding.
