Terry D. Swanson, DVM
Dr. Terry Swanson was raised on a cattle ranch 20 miles east of Chugwater, Wyoming. This was the beginning of his respect and appreciation of horses, especially the equine athlete.
While he has never been a farrier, he maintains a devoted interest to the farrier profession and appreciates the “art of shoeing” and its importance to the success of performance horses.
As a leader in the profession, Dr. Swanson served as president of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association in 1983 and as president of the American Association of Equine Practitioners in 1996, making him the third person from Littleton Equine Medical Center to serve in this position.
In 2014, the AAEP honored Dr. Swanson with its Distinguished Life Member Award and in 2019 he received the AAEP Distinguished Educator – Mentor Award.
When not busy practicing he can be found engaging in activities with his own horses, especially team roping and spending time with family.
