With a passion for eventing, Karen volunteered on the veterinary staff for eventing competitors in the 1996 Olympic Games, 2010 FEI Alltech World Equestrian Games and almost every Rolex Kentucky CCI**** since 1989. She also worked as an Official or Treating Veterinarian at numerous eventing and jumping competitions in the US and Canada.
Dr. Nyrop was respected by her veterinarian peers for her depth of knowledge and experience as well as eventing competitors for her advocacy for horse safety and ability to communicate and mentor.
Karen was an active amateur eventer competing up to the intermediate level. Karen’s love of horses began in a Western saddle in the Montana mountains as a child and she continued to love trail riding and horse packing in the U.S. and Canadian Rocky Mountains throughout her adventurous life.
